Register animal for transport in hold

You have the option to transport your dog or cat in the air-conditioned hold as excess baggage in a special travel carrier on your Discover Airlines flight. Please register your pet no later than 72 hours before departure. Upon receipt of your request, you will receive an email confirmation of whether the requested service can be confirmed. If the booking is successful, a corresponding fee will be charged.

Please note that cats and dogs belonging to snub-nosed (brachycephalic) breeds cannot be carried in the hold. Special requirements for travel carriers apply for the transport of breeds and mixes classified as fighting dogs.

Register cat or dog

We will check availability and book your pet’s transport in the hold for your next Discover Airlines flight. We will inform you by email whether the requested service can be confirmed. If the booking is successful, you must pay the fees incurred at the airport (at check-in).

Requirements
  • Bookable for flights flown on or after December 1, 2025.
  • Book at least 72 hours before departure.
  • The transport of animals in the hold is not available on flights with stopovers, but only on direct flights operated by Discover Airlines to/from Frankfurt and Munich.
  • Transportation is available on short and medium-haul flights, provided the flight takes place on board an A320. Transport in the cargo hold is not possible on all long-haul flights, as well as on short-haul and medium-haul flights to the following destinations: Ålesund, Bodø, Chania, Djerba, Hurghada, Kalamata, Kefalonia, Keflavík, Larnaca, Marsa Alam, Monastir, Samos, Skiathos and Zakynthos.
  • You are required to present the necessary documents for health, entry and transfer at the airport
  • Country-specific restrictions and exceptions may apply to certain aircraft types.
  • The minimum age of the animal to/from Germany is 15 weeks.
  • Each animal must be able to move, stand, lie, and turn around inside the cage during transport. If two animals are transported together in a cage, they must be used to each other.
  • Only one animal is allowed per pet carrier. Exception: Two animals of approximately the same size and each not heavier than 14 kg or a mother animal with a puppy or kitten.
  • The animal’s transport box must comply with IATA Live Animal Regulations.
