To ensure smooth boarding, more stowage space on board, and on-time departure, your carry-on baggage must meet with regulations. For this reason, we check your carry-on baggage at departure airports for the permitted dimensions, quantity and weight. The charges for this are significantly higher at the gate than in the check-in hall and can only be paid for by credit card.

Please make sure that you always take your personal items such as valuables and medication into the cabin with you. Devices such as mobile phones and tablets, power banks and e-cigarettes that contain batteries are not permitted to be transported in checked baggage.

What happens if you have too much baggage, or non-compliant carry-on baggage?

  • If your carry-on baggage is not within the specifications, it will be taken from you at check-in or when boarding at the gate and transported in the hold at a charge.
Please note: charges for this are significantly higher than for pre-booked checked baggage and may only be paid by credit card.
  • It may also be necessary due to limited onboard storage space to load compliant carry-on baggage into the cargo hold on fully booked flights. If this is the case, we will inform you in advance by email and give you the option of dropping off your carry-on baggage free of charge at check-in.

In both cases, please remove all valuables, important medication, and all devices powered by batteries or rechargeable batteries (e.g. smartphones, tablets, laptops, power banks or e-cigarettes). These must be carried in the cabin.
