By when do I need to register my need for assistance?
Please communicate what assistance you require via the contact options at least 48 hours before departure. For short-notice registrations, the best possible assistance cannot be guaranteed.
If booking by phone or at a travel agency, please specify your requests before completing the booking.
When do I need to be at the check-in counter?
Please report to the Discover Airlines check-in counter no later than 60 minutes before departure, even if you’ve already checked in online.
Assistance can only be guaranteed if both requirements are met:
- The assistance requirements were registered at least 48 hours before departure.
- You arrive at the airport early (get to the counter no later than 60 minutes before departure).

When is an assessment of fitness to fly required?
An assessment by the Lufthansa Medical Service is required, among other things, for:
- Heart or lung disease
- Stroke
- Injuries after accidents
- Chronic illnesses

Legal guidelines
Passengers with impaired mobility are transported in accordance with Regulation (EC) No. 1107/2006 of July 5, 2006 on the rights of disabled passengers and passengers with impaired mobility. Passengers traveling to and from the USA are transported with effect from May 13, 2009 in accordance with the U.S. DOT provisions, Chapter 14, Part 382 of the Code of Federal Regulations.
