Common checked baggage fees

For travelers in Economy Class from the United States to Germany:

Your first checked bag up to 23kg/50lbs: free of charge +1 free carry-on bag up to 8kg/18lbs
Your second checked bag up to 23kg/50lbs: 85.00 USD
The maximum size per piece of baggage is 158 cm (width X + height Y + depth Z)

International flight change fees

Economy fares, except Economy Light, and upwards can be rebooked plus possible fare differences. The originally paid ticket amount will be credited against the new ticket. In this case also a fare, tax, fees and charges differential might apply. The following conditions must be observed:

The original fare is still available
The flight sequence remains unchanged
Changes must be made before departure of original scheduled flight
Changes not permitted in case of no-show

Otherwise the fare will be recalculated and any fare, tax, fees and charges differential may apply. Flight change fees are subject to change and vary based on origin and destination.

Additional fees charged for unaccompanied children

A fee of 89 USD in addition to the price of the flight will be charged for using our care service per route and per unaccompanied child.

Flying with infants

For international flights, the infant fare is 10% of the adult fare plus applicable fees.

Traveling with pets

Discover Airlines allows dogs and cats to be carried in the cabin under certain conditions. We’ll check the availability and make the booking for you no later than 72 hours before departure. We shall inform you by email if it is not possible to make the booking for your pet. If your booking is successful, you must pay the fees incurred when checking in at the airport.

Animals may not be transported in the cargo hold. With the baggage calculator on lufthansa.com you can check the fees for taking your pet with you.
