Quick help in the event that my flight is delayed or canceled
In this case, we’ll inform you of changes to your flight via email, text message, or the Lufthansa app, and we’ll automatically rebook your flight if possible. Please make sure your current contact information is on file under “My bookings.”
If you booked your ticket through a tour operator or travel agency, you can also contact the tour operator or travel agency directly.
In the event of a last-minute rebooking
Has your flight been canceled on short notice? With the Lufthansa Chat Assistant, you can check whether you’ve already been rebooked or choose alternatives for yourself and rebook your flight free of charge. We’re also happy to help you personally over the phone.

Has your flight been changed or canceled? With the Lufthansa Chat Assistant, you can quickly and conveniently get your ticket refunded. We’re also happy to help you personally and process your refund over the phone.
Baggage transfer in the event of a flight cancellation
If you’re rebooked, we’ll take care of your baggage transfer. In the event of a last-minute flight cancellation and onward travel by train or bus, we’ll make every effort to provide your baggage quickly. Please refer to the information displays and listen to announcements for further details.
Passenger rights
If your flight has been canceled or significantly delayed, or you’ve been denied transportation on a flight for which you have a confirmed booking, you have passenger rights under EU Regulation No. 261/2004.
Compensation for delayed and canceled flights
If your flight was delayed or canceled, or your baggage arrived late, you may be entitled to compensation.
Meal voucher
You’re entitled to the meal voucher if your flight is delayed by at least two hours, your flight is canceled, or you’re denied boarding. In this case, the meal voucher will automatically be linked to the QR code on the boarding pass for the flight in question.
Coverage of costs for a hotel stay
If your departure is delayed until the next day, we’ll arrange a hotel room for you or reimburse your reasonable hotel expenses.

FAQs and answers
Discover Airlines will proactively rebook you onto an alternate flight to the same destination in the same travel class, free of charge. This usually happens automatically. However, in some cases, automatic rebooking isn’t possible. In this case—or if the proposed alternative doesn’t suit your plans—you have the option of choosing a suitable connection yourself.
With the Lufthansa Chat Assistant, you can check whether you’ve already been rebooked or rebook your flight yourself free of charge. Alternatively, you can also view and edit your booking under “My bookings” at any time.
If you booked your flight ticket through a tour operator or travel agency, direct rebooking may not be possible. In this case, please contact the tour operator or travel agency.
If your Discover Airlines flight has been canceled, you can request a refund for your ticket. The Lufthansa Chat Assistant will let you check the possible refund amount and request the refund directly. Alternatively, you can request the refund via the link below.
If you booked your flight ticket through a tour operator or travel agency, we recommend contacting them directly.
If you’ve already submitted your refund request by phone or email, we kindly ask that you do not request the refund again as this may result in a delay in processing your request.
If you haven’t used your ticket yet, the ticket price, including all taxes and fees, will be refunded to the original form of payment.
If you’ve already used your ticket for one or more segments of your trip, we’ll calculate the unused portion of the fare, taxes, and fees and issue a prorated refund.
You’ll receive a meal voucher if your flight is delayed by at least two hours, if your flight is canceled, or if you’re denied boarding. You can redeem the meal voucher at a number of restaurants at many airports. An overview of the airports and participating restaurants can be found here:

The meal voucher will automatically be linked to the QR code on the boarding pass for the flight in question. All you have to do is show your boarding pass at a participating restaurant to redeem the voucher.
We’ll send you an email and text message informing you when your personal voucher is activated and how much it is worth.
If you’re at an airport where there are no participating restaurants, please don’t hesitate to talk to our gate staff. They’ll be happy to issue you a meal voucher upon request.
If your departure is delayed until the next day, we’ll take care of your hotel stay. If you’re already at the gate, please talk to the staff there. They’ll be happy to provide you with a link to book a hotel room free of charge. You’re also welcome to book a hotel yourself and submit the costs of your overnight accommodation, transportation between the airport and hotel, and meals for a refund. Discover Airlines will cover these costs as long as they are reasonable. Please use our feedback form to send us your hotel, transportation, and meal receipts as well as your boarding pass and bank details (IBAN and BIC).
